Philadelphia Eagles 2006 Preview

Author: Jason A. Martin Last season for the Eagles was one to forget. They had issues on and off the field. For the Eagles, the season ended in a couple of weeks. They finished an abysmal 6-10. Over the off season, they solved the Terrell Owens issue. He's now with their nemesis, the Dallas Cowboys. Looking at the Eagles, they appear to be ready to move forward and get back on track. Unfortunately, the NFC East is going to be a rough division. Every team is expected to fight hard for the title. Quarterbacks I am not sure where to rank Donovan McNabb. He appears to be going the wrong way in his career. The 2006 season is going to be crucial for him and this Eagles offense. Many will be quick to blame last season on his injury and Owens. Will McNabb stay healthy this season? Will it matter? The Eagles brought in Jeff Garcia as a backup. He's not the best quarterback out there, but he makes for a decent backup option. Receivers The receiving crew for the Eagles is expected to

Buy, Watch Or Pass - Week 8

With Matt Hasselbeck out for 2 to 4 weeks, Seneca Wallace got his first nfl start at QB against the Chiefs. His performance was a mixed bag. The 3 TD's are nice, but the 2 interceptions & 50% completion percentage is not. Wallace is listed at only 5'11", much shorter than what scouts look for, so the low completion percentage may stay. Seattle also doesn't have much of a run game, currently ranked 26th in the nfl. Certainly he will get his throws in, but if a defense is expecting pass all the time, turnovers are more likely to occur. If Hasselbeck was out for the year, he'd be an interesting guy to watch for due to some good matchups on Seattle's schedule. Henry had been inactive the previous 3 games which included a 2 game suspension for violating the nfl's substance abuse policy. Henry also has been arrested four times since December 2005, so the risk of losing him is high.

Making The Right Call

What should you do on a fourth and two with only one minute left on the clock and a three point difference? Should you punt or should you try a field goal to create a tie? These kinds of decisions plague coaches throughout their history and career in the nfl. From the sidelines to the head office, decision-making is a large part of professional sports. However the nfl is on a recent series of decision-making or decision-stalling that has led many to criticize the commissioner's office and the way decisions are made. 45 second rule It's no secret that one of the providential prosperities of the nfl has been its relationship with the media. From Monday night football to ESPN Sports Center, access of the media to nfl players, parks and offices has been the hallmark of a stellar relationship. However, online journalism with its independent reporters and the streaming videos has posed a problem for the nfl as they have no ability to control content or manage a relationship with every blog writer with a webcam.
